01
A pulled-shut door is different from a locked or jammed lock
A pulled-shut door is sitting in the frame while the locking mechanism may not have been engaged. It may instead be locked with a key, have a key left inside or fail to respond as expected.
These circumstances are not equivalent. The professional considers the account given and what can be assessed at the property before defining the work.
02
Authorised access and the property context
The service is arranged for entry points the requesting person can authorise. For a rented home, business, shared building or jointly held property, it helps to clarify who can give permission.
Information that confirms access or identifies the responsible person helps prevent misunderstandings. If authorisation is uncertain, it is clarified before work continues.
03
What to avoid and when to call public emergency services
Do not force the door or key: force can worsen the issue or cause damage. Keep the area clear and explain what happened without manipulating the lock.
If a person is in danger, there is a medical emergency, fire, smoke, a risk situation or a need for rescue, call 112 first. The Government of Catalonia describes it as a free emergency service; door access must not delay urgent help.
04
Assessment, scope and budget before work begins
An on-site assessment confirms the issue and reviews visible conditions. The door, lock, fittings, frame and any additional work can affect scope; a remote description does not replace assessment at the property.
Before work starts, the proposed action and budget are explained. If a different circumstance emerges, it is presented for a decision; unagreed work is not carried out.
